In Vermont, you must be at least 18 years of age to become a real estate sales agent. Here are 5 steps to becoming a sales agent.
1. Complete a 40-hour salesperson pre-licensing course. Visit the Education and Events pages of this website for a listing of available classes.
2. Upon successful completion of the 40-hour salesperson pre-licensing course, you must take the Vermont state licensing exam and the national exam.

If you are applying for licensure by endorsement (have an active license in another state) then you may not need to take the 40 hour pre-licensing course. If you hold a license Indiana or Rhode Island you will need to take the 40 hour pre-licensing course because these states are not equivalent to Vermont.
The state exam can be taken by scheduling with the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation through the Vermont Secretary of State website. You will need to set up an account to schedule your class.
Once you complete and pass the state exam, you can take the national exam. Contact AMP for your exam registration and questions regarding your exam. You can contact the examination service at www.goamp.com or by phone at (913) 895-4600.
